JOB DESCRIPTION FOR POWER ELECTRONICS WORKSHOP ENGINEER

ROLE OVERVIEW:

  • Carrying out feasibility studies for new technical innovations
  • Team management
  • Electronic/Electrical project management
  • Electronic/Electrical project design and implementation

Carrying out feasibility studies for new technical innovations  

  • Up to date with the electronics state-of-the-art technology.
  • Technology vigilance.

Team management  

  • Coordinating technicians.
  • Organising routine servicing schedules.
  • Team work allocation.

Electronic/Electrical project management

  • Estimating material and labour costs, as well project timescales.
  • Attending meetings, writing reports and giving presentations to managers and customers.

Electronic/Electrical project design and implementation

  • Drawing up plans using computer-assisted engineering and design software.
  • PCB design using FPGAs and embedded microcontrollers.
  • Testing electrical/electronic systems, data analysis and report.
  • Making sure projects meet electrical and railways norms/standards.
  • Overseeing inspection and maintenance programmes.
  • Carrying out quality inspections.
  • Test-bench design and installation experience.
  • PLC software design.
  • Field bus / CAN / Modbus / Ethernet experience.

PERSONAL PROFILE:

Previous Roles and Functional Skills

  • 2+ years of workshop and/or project engineering experience, preferred.
  • Hold an Electrical/Electronic Engineering degree, preferred.
  • Procurement skills.
  • Some understanding or experience of the rail industry, namely power electronics, preferred.
  • Team work allocation experience, preferred.
  • Knowledgeable in and curious about technology and technically strong.
  • Ability to read, understand and communicate technical documentation to channel sales teams and customers.
  • Ability to write technical documents (presentations, case studies, technical reports and manuals, etc)
  • Project management, group facilitation, time management, analytical and problem solving skills.

Communication Skills

  • Excellent presentation and communication skills (verbal and particularly written)
  • Fluent spoken English and strong English language writing skill

Personal Skills

  • Good interpersonal skills.

Location

JOB DESCRIPTION FOR EMBEDDED SOFTWARE ENGINEER

Job Description

We are looking for a software engineer to join our growing embedded systems team. Our role as a team is to develop and install embedded computers solutions in rolling stock (trains) which interfaces with on train systems and continuously transmit data to our servers in shore side.

Nomad Tech is currently hiring new software developers to help build and maintain our embedded applications.

Responsibilities

  • Develop software in accordance with company and industry standard methodologies;
  • Contribute to all phases of the software development life cycle (requirement analysis, architecture design, code development and testing stages);
  • Be part of the continuous product development initiatives.

Skills & Experience

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or similar;
  • Experience in C / C++ programming languages;
  • Experience in using C development tools (gcc, gdb, makefile, glibc, etc);
  • Experience in Git, version control system.
  • Relevant knowledge of the Linux operating system;
  • Some experience in Bash or other scripting languages;
  • Knowledge of communication protocols and network architectures;
  • Ability to communicate in English both oral and written.

Additional

  • Knowledge about remote monitoring systems;
  • Knowledge about Docker and associated tools to create, deploy and run applications using containers;
  • Knowledge about testing strategies applied to embedded systems;

Job Description

We are looking for a systems administrator to join our growing embedded systems engineering team. Our role as a team is to develop and install embedded computers solutions in rolling stock (trains) which interfaces with on train systems and continuously transmit data to our servers in shore side.

Nomad Tech is currently hiring an embedded systems admin to help developing and continuously improve tools to manage and support our remote monitoring solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain embedded machines running Linux OS;
  • Define and implement deployment and support services;
  • Build and configure custom embedded operating systems based in Linux;
  • Represent embedded systems discipline and in cooperation with security experts define and implement secured solutions.

Skills & Experience

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or similar;
  • Relevant knowledge of the Linux kernel subsystems and internals;
  • Experience in managing Linux computers based in x86 and ARM processors;
  • Experience in scripting languages like Bash and Python;
  • Knowledge about automation frameworks like Ansible;
  • Knowledge about server-based systems to support Continuous Integration and Deployment tools like Atlassian Bamboo or Jenkins;
  • Ability to communicate in English both oral and written.

Additional

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop front-end web applications using the latest software development technologies, architectures and design patterns

Skills & Experience
